Laura Linney, best known for playing strong, yet weak characters, is among of the most acclaimed American actors of the present. Her father was a celebrated playwright. However, she was raised as an only child by a single mom and nurse. During the summers, while with her dad, Linney developed a passion for the theatre. She eventually studied acting initially at Brown University then at Juilliard School. After graduating from Brown University, she started her Broadway debut soon afterward. Within two years of the time, her debut film came out and the next year her TV debut. Innumerable appearances in films, and television and stage shows since. She received many accolades during her professional career, which included several Primetime Emmy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. In spite of her many nominations, she has a passion for theatre and has appeared on stage and screen.
